Volunteers Serving Food

Volunteer Your Time

Your contribution of time is just as valuable to the Library Friends, if not more so, than your financial support. The majority of the funds that we raise to enhance Library programs and facilities is a result of our sale of donated used books. Preparing for and carrying out our book sales events is a time-consuming process that relies on the efforts of our member volunteers.  Members can also volunteer to serve on one of our two standing Committees -

Used Book Donation and Sales (2 Board members plus additional Friends members)
Organizes and carries out a program for solicitation of used book donations, and sale of used books at special events and in the Friend’s book display area at the Library; recruits volunteers from our membership to carry out related tasks, including inspecting/organizing/culling donated books, stocking and maintaining the used book display shelving and staffing semi-annual special book sales events; advertises and promotes used book sale events.

Membership (2 Board members, plus additional Friends members)
Responsible for communications with Friends membership and the public in print and electronic form, in order to foster membership growth and engagement, as well as public support for the Amy Van Andel Library; develops and maintains the Friends web site and social media page; coordinates and communicates with other local organizations, including Ada Township, Ada Business Association, Ada Historical Society and Ada Arts Council.

Whether it's serving on a Committee, an hour of book sorting per week, or a half-day at one of our book sales, we value and appreciate any help you can provide.
