The Amy Van Andel Library, in coordination with the Library Friends, hosts quarterly art exhibits in the main lobby area, with a focus on local artists. The  Summer, 2024 exhibit features the work of Ruth VanderMeulen.  Ruth's exhibit, titled "The Cosmic Canvas," reflects a shift away from her previous work over the last 20+ years, which she describes as follows:​​

"After painting landscapes, still lifes and works focusing on people, using both oil and acrylic for over 20 years, I have concluded that I also greatly enjoy the narrative, (both subtle and obvious), combined with a little imagination and humor. I also find that there are many stories waiting to be discovered under the layers of abstract pictures.  I hope you enjoy the show and create your own story for each painting."
